August 2020 marks the launch of Artisense's vision-based positioning system: VINS and VINS PRO.

The VINS, composed of a stereo camera sensor with an integrated inertial measurement unit (IMU) and GNSS receiver, provides unprecedented positioning accuracy and robustness using off-the-shelf components crafted into a compact package and at a fraction of the cost of comparable solutions.

The VINS development kit ships with all above mentioned sensors, GNSS antenna and a compute unit designed to work out of the box - putting the state-of-the-art in computer vision and sensor fusion for positioning at your fingertips to accelerate your R&D and autonomy projects. No more hardware calibration, synchronization and sensor fusion headaches to slow you down.

Artisense also supports large projects and series production together with hardware partners in the automotive industry or offers licenses as well as custom integration of the Artisense software on the customers’ platform and sensors.

What's new

Artisense software has only modest hardware requirements and leverages a scalable sensor setup for next-generation 6 Degrees of Freedom positioning accuracy and continued tracking even without expensive GNSS/INS or within GNSS denied environments. The hardware has been completely rebuilt to meet requirements from a single development kit to large scale robotics and vehicle automation projects (preliminary datasheet).
The system now includes a user-friendly dashboard for ease of use, providing confidence and velocity measurements in addition to position, and can optionally be upgraded to also fuse map-based relocalization for complete GNSS redundancy (VINS PRO).

What's next
Additional new features and extensions are scheduled to be released throughout 2021, always first with today's beta customers.
This includes support for the fusion of additional optional sensors such as IR cameras and LiDAR, powered by Kudan LiDAR SLAM, tools for continuous online sensor and vehicle calibration, and tools for application-specific adaptation of Artisense maps, to name only a few. Stay tuned for more partnerships to be announced soon.
