It's been almost a year since introducing our approach towards autonomous navigation. Over the past 12 months, we have partnered with other localization experts such as Septentrio (video) as well as leading manufacturers of cameras and electronics. More importantly, we have worked with early customers that had enough vision to join us on the quest of making autonomy of robots and vehicles a reality by solving one of the great remaining problems - accurate, safe and cost-effective localization.

Our development kit is already available. After much testing in customer projects in different industries and yet more testing on our own vehicles, we are excited to announce the launch of the Artisense Visual Inertial Navigation System (VINS) in July of 2020. The ultra-scalable vision-based sensor and software integrate visual inertial odometry, GPS, map-based and other localization methods or sensors to deliver cm-accurate and robust localization. Such localization is required for example:

  • to determine ground truth for testing of other systems,
    sensors and maps

  • to navigate mobile robots and Automated Guided Vehicles

  • as input for Autonomous Vehicles and ADAS Systems
    (e.g. Auto Valet Parking)

At the core of the VINS is the Artisense motion processor that combines information from different sensor frontends in a tightly coupled fusion. ArtiSLAM and map-based relocalization algorithms add unparalleled accuracy and redundancy, also for safety-critical applications and in GPS-denied or compromised areas.

Together with the customer, we determine the right sensor setup and features from the VINS product portfolio for the individual customer application.

An entirely new map format for map-based relocalization, if selected as a feature, allows for fully automated creation of maps that enable operations at scale with practically real-time updates.

We will be at CES in Las Vegas demoing the VINS with GPS integration for localization and mapping, also in GPS-denied environments. Get in touch to secure a demo, get a sneak peek at the scalable map-based localization and option to pre-order at exclusive CES conditions.
